The autum brings breathtaking beauty to the people in Northern climates. The leaf clean-up, of course, is a story of quite a different color. Remember that the leaders and gutters of every home catches the leaves. If you don't remove them, they are apt to cause serious problems over the winter. An excellent preventive measure is to install galvanized chicken wire in strips, cut just wide enough to fit snugly across the width of the gutter. They can be installed during the cleaning process. These wire protectors can also be found a major hardware stores. Believe us when we tell you that the cost is well worth doing.

It's not much fun when you decide to build a roaring fire for that romantic evening at home, only to discover that a troop of squirrels have set up residence in your chimney! To check for obstructions, use a flashlight and drop a weight on a string down the chimney. Install a spark arrester, which also serves as a bird and animal fence.
